Self-Love & Mental Health
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Self love means accepting your emotions, and actions and putting them above all else
- Without self-love, you cannot have a stable mental state
- Lack of self love may lead to low self-esteem and anxiety
- Self-love is important for overall wellbeing
Self love means appreciation of your worth and virtue. It starts with understanding and accepting your actions and behaviours. It means talking about compassion to yourself.
Self-love doesn’t mean always having a smile on your face and forgetting the important things in life that need to be taken care of. It also doesn’t mean that you step out of your way to world tour and immerse yourself in self-help books.
Self love affects your mental health
Self care helps you respond to stress positively. It prompts you to satisfy your emotional and physical needs and puts them before any need. In today’s hectic life, it is important that you understand your need and fulfil it. Which is possible only through self-love. It also helps you balance your life and improve your relationships with yourself and others.
It also helps to gain self-esteem and overcome your weakness in a positive way that leads to good mental health.
Self love: An ongoing journey
You need to understand that self-love does not come in a day if you are struggling with it for a long time. However, self-love is also not an achievement that has an end. Self-love that comes in the form of self-care is an ongoing journey. You can never stop taking care of yourself. You have to inculcate self-love in your habit and enjoy the fruits of it throughout your life.
