PROGRAM: Support an Orphan Child for a month
THE PROBLEM:
The number of children In India who are not in school still remains high. According to UNICEF, children are denied equal opportunities for education because of caste, class and gender differences. Poor or orphaned children are unable to get a chance to learn. They often drop out of school to help provide for themselves or their family, even at an early age. Without an education, the children will be subject to a life of extreme poverty and, at times, may be forced into bonded labor.
What is this Campaign about?
This project provides a quality education to orphaned children in India. The children are often marginalized because of their low caste. They don’t have money to attend school let alone afford basic essentials. With a good education, these children will have an opportunity to succeed. They’ll be able to pursue careers and contribute back to their communities. You can send children in India to school and help them develop intellectually and creatively in a safe learning environment. We also feed the child and provide proper nutrition to these orphaned children
What we do:
This project will help 1000 orphaned children receive a good education for a whole year. Children who would likely grow up illiterate, oppressed, and stuck in extreme poverty will have the chance to rise up and become resourceful contributors to their society. Older students who have been helped through this project have moved on to pursue higher education and now enjoy careers in teaching, nursing, counseling, computers, and various trades so they can give back to the community in meaningful ways.
This project identifies children in need and provides them with their basic needs in order for them to succeed. They get a chance to attend a quality school that teaches, prepares, and encourages them to realize their dreams and pursue promising careers. They also receive after-school tutoring if extra academic help is needed. In addition to an education, children who are in most need may also receive assistance for food, shelter, and basic supplies to ensure they are cared for.
What have we done to date?
Anu Aggarwal Foundation not only provides food and education to orphaned girls and boys but also conducts community building workshops and events in orphanages in Delhi. The founder Anu Aggarwal has been supporting orphanages and working with orphan kids even before she started her acting career.
Where we are today?
Anu Aggarwal Foundation works closely with Rainbow Home in Delhi for girls and conducts regular workshops and events for the orphans girls there.
About Organization:
Anu Aggarwal Foundation is a Mumbai based NGO, focused on distributing nutritious food to the poor and needy along with clothes, education for children, skill development amongst women and basic necessities support across the country. The aim of this campaign is “Eliminate Hunger in India” in a nation where the rich-poor divides are stark and while a million splurges on good food, we find it unacceptable that even bigger millions of people have to go to bed hungry without any means for food of nutrition.
What is our goal?
Our Goal is to provide food, shelter and education to over 1,000 orphan boys and girls throughout Mumbai and Delhi. To reach our goal we have to raise approximately ₹22,00,000. Our cost for education per child per month comes upto ₹2200/- only.
